Grimsey Airfield Revival

Grimsey Airfield Revival Teaser Image

Part of being a bush pilot is to land at places which are not considered to be airfields. Grimsey is a small island north of Akureyri. The island does have an old airfield, but it is currently unmaintained, and there's no guarantee you'll be able to land. Your job is to pick up a C208 from Egilsstadir (BIEG), fly to Grimsey (with cargo consisting of sweets and coffee which the residents are desperately craving for), do some scouting of the airfield and then land if possible. Bu don't risk your neck or the plane - if the runways are too desolate, head to your next stop.

If you are able to land, talk to the locals and inspect the condition of the runways and facilities to determine what's necessary to reopen the airport, and keep it open, with as little as maintenance and monetary investment as possible. Then head back to BIEG and report to operations.

Fun fact: The few residents of Grimsey are not allowed to have dogs or cats, in order to protect the population of rare birds which have settled on Grimsey, including the adorable Atlantic Puffins.

You'll need a flight plan for this mission, since Grimsey is not currently an active airfield which can be stored in our database. You'll also make quick stops at airfields on the way to and from Grimsey to deliver small portions of express cargo.
