Rescue Greenhorns in the Highlands

Rescue Greenhorns in the Highlands Teaser Image

A group of intrepid hikers, venturing into the remote and rugged highlands of Iceland, have found themselves in a perilous situation. A sudden storm, with howling winds and blinding snow, has swept across the desolate landscape, leaving them stranded and injured. Unable to proceed or retreat, they've activated their emergency beacon, sending a distress signal that’s been picked up by the Icelandic Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) team. ICE-SAR, recognizing the urgency of the situation, has requested assistance from IFA. The task is clear: transport a specialized rescue team to the stranded hikers' location, near a remote airstrip.

You are tasked with this critical mission and will depart from Reykjavík's domestic airport (BIRK). Destination: Bíldudalur Airport (BISV), a small airfield situated near the heart of the highlands.
After landing at BISV, you'll prepare for the return journey, this time carrying the injured hikers and the rescue team back to Reykjavík.

Remarks: The runway at BISV is sloped in MSFS, and quite steeply, I'd say between 15 and 20 degrees. You'll have to land and take off on runway 24, no matter what, otherwise you'll end up crashing into an unnatural hill. If the winds don't favor RWY 24, abort. Landing is challenging, taking off even moreso. You'll have to accelerate as quickly as you can, 24 is running up a hill which drops right at the end of the runway, so you have a tiny little vertical leeway of maybe 20-30 ft behind the runway, if you're not fast enough yet (much like if you'd take of from an aircraft carrier). I guess it's the simulators fault, because in reality this runway wouldn't be safe. But for simmers like us it's a nice challenge, especially during wintertime when you can hardly recognize the runway. Good luck!

Available After completion of the charter/tour you will automatically receive an award.
